Art for me offers a glimpse into another reality. I look for interesting images or compositions in everyday life. Subjects include landscapes, architectural details, vegetables displayed at a farmers market, flowers either growing in nature or part of a still life arrangement, as well as personal interchanges between people in public. I find beauty within both spare simplicity or lush elegance and am especially drawn to vivid colors. Above all I strive to present a fresh artistic vision.

Creative influences include painters as well as photographers working in color. Artists whose work I admire include Robert Bechtle, William Beckman, Richard Bolingbroke, Sandro Botticelli, Edward Burtynsky, Lenore Chinn, Mitchell Confer, Richard Diebenkorn, William Eggleston, David Hockney, Edward Hopper, Robert Morgan, Georgia O’Keefe, Joel Meyerowitz, Richard Misrach, Leslie Kenneth Price, Jon Rife, Stephen Shore and Jan Vermeer.

Though I came late in life to art, I have always been visually oriented. While I may lack what it takes to create something from nothing using paint and brushes, I do have the innate ability to recognize an esthetically pleasing photo-based composition.
